ENVIRONMENTS INC.
THOMPSON PROPERTIES ~ M-1963-702
TECHNICAL REVISION RESPONSE
APRIL 1 2, 2007
PAGE 2
I think that we should use the first 5 quarterly reading to
establish that the water table elevation is well below the
proposed-mine floor elevation. This should also show that
it is more that 2 feet below the mine floor so no ground.
water will be exposed by mining. The data may show the
seasonal fluctuation but by collecting data throughout the
life of the mine we will be able to monitor long term trends
in the ground water table. If during mining we find a trend
that shows there may be chancjes happening to the water table
an investigation can be done to determine the cause for the
change.
Thompsons.agrees to analyze the data collected and if they
find a change that is noteworthy, the Division will be
notified and advised as to what we think is causing the
noted changes.
For example, as noted above, additional-household wells are
drilled east of the mine. The water table begins to fall
due to pumping in the houses. The ground water elevation is
going down. Thompson would advise the Division 'as soan as
possible of what we find and think is the cause of the
problem. This Division could then investigate so it would
be fore warned if someohe calls regarding their well. We do
not believe mining will impact off site wells since we do
not plan to intercept the ground water table but as we would
be the first to see a down trend it is in our interest to
bring it to the Divisions attention. We are assuming that
most likely there will be a reduction in the water table but
it would also let us know if the water table raises so we
can stay 2 -feet above it if needed.
Thanks for your help on this and if you have any questions
please call me.
Sincerely,
Environment, Inc.
~~~~
Stevan L.
