Dave Becker and I have discussed the dewatering
at the Koenig Pit drawing down some of the water wells in the area. He had been notified by some
of the landowners, and he is presently trying to set up a meeting with the property owners in the
area. Once we have determined where the wells aze being pumped down, we can amend our mining
plan to accommodate these land owners by constructing a trench or by pumping down smaller
sections of the lake and providing a temporary damn or a dike to hold water on the well side.
Weld County would like to pursue the amendment application on the Koenig Gravel Pit once we
have determined the problem. We are asking for some additional time to amend the application to
reflect the current operation at the facility. We feel that we could make a submittal of the
amendment by the first of August if this is agreeable with the Division.
Sincerely,
.i
Don Carroll
Project Coordinator
cc: Commissioner Webster
Dave Becker, Project Manager
Koenig Gravel Pit file
:Aoenig. do
sa
