Buildi~s and Structures
United Companies plans to leave the office building and the maintenance shop
building for use by the next landowner. Both buildings are in good condition and
remain fully functional.
The small RV campground that is located to the south of the office building will also
be left in place. The campground is fully functional. It is expected that employees of
the new landowner will use the RV campground during the construction season.
Signs and Markers
The required sign is posted at the entrance to Phase I mining area. The main entrance
to the permitted area is located approximately % mite to the east of the Phase I
entrance. The perimeter of the permit area is coincidental with fences for much the
length. The Colorado River forms the southern boundary of the permit area at the
Phase I area. The eastern boundary is marked by a road between the Phase I area and
the Phase II and Casey Concrete properties.
The Phase I part of Reclamation Permit M-1979-205 has been mined and reclaimed. No
contaminated or acid forming materials were discovered during the mining of the site or
left in the ground following the completion of mining and reclamation activities. Grading
of the site includes sloping the sides of the two lakes that have been created and leveling
the remainder of the site. Topsoil has been redistributed at the slopes of both lakes and
the level areas of the site with the exception of the area that has been left for industrial
uses. Ground water has not been adversely affected by the extraction of grave] from this
site. Surface water quality is good and discharges of water from this part of the site are no
longer taking place. The site is well suited for the post mining land uses that will actually
take place at this location.
4
