Through December 1980, tailing deposition had <br />covered 505 acres, leaving 809 acres as buffer. In 1981 and <br />1982, we anticipate that additional tailing deposition will not <br />exceed 70 and 75 acres respectively, bringing the total to 650 <br />acres by the end of 1982. <br />The technical revision approved in July, 1980, to begin <br />construction of the perimeter toad added 50 acres to the area <br />designated as the tailing area, bringing the total potentially <br />affected Iand to 1364 acres. However, only 30 of the 50 acres <br />exchanged from Area 21 were disturbed, leaving 20 acres as <br />buffer. <br />-6- <br />
