MILL YARD AND ACCESS ROADS (5)
• As with the railroad, islands presently exist within the
highly active area designated as the mill yard. We wish to
eliminate the islands and add the 28 acres to the existing 95
acres of affected land. Normal mill expansion is expected to
require about 15 of the additional 28 acres. The other 13
acres will remain as buffer. Possible construction require-
ments in the mill yard are the addition of a fifth primary
grinding mill, construction of a coarse ore regrind facility
and additional railroad track.
Disturbance of the 15 acres may occur as early as 1981.
Reclamation of the area will be done exactly as described in
the existing permit for the mill yard.
EAST BRANCH RESERVOIR SHORES (6)
This reservoir stores water which is used in the milling
of the ore. Presently, water which is decanted from the
tailing pond and recycled to the mill circuit flows into the
reservoir in close proximity to the dam. Studies indicate
that this inflow is not achieving proper mixing within the
reservoir. Better mixing will insure a more consistent water
quality fot the mill process. We wish to extend the return
pipe to the upper end of the reservoir to facilitate better
mixing of freshwater and mill water. Extending the pipeline
to the upper end of the reservoir would disturb 10 acres.
The remaining area between the reservoir and the railroad is
an island which will be incorporated as buffer.
In total, we wish to add 55 acres to the existing 45 J
acres; however, only 10 of the 55 acres will be immediately
disturbed, leaving 45 acres as buffer. Reclamation of the
• area will occur exactly as described in the existing permit
for the East Branch Reservoir.
-4-
