contributed to the restriction. Preliminary boring for
No. 5 exhaust shaft, additional diesel fuel storage, sewage
treatment plant expansion and warehouse, compressor and batch
plant expansion are examples of activities which have
consumed space within the mine site.
The area most conducive to accommodating this need is
east of and contiguous with the mine site. in essence, the J
mine yard will be extended eastward as indicated on the map,
incorporating an additional 43 acres.
Utilization of this additional space will be phased
through time, however, it is expected that only 20 acres will
be disturbed in the immediate future, leaving 23 acres as
buffer for potential future disturbance.
Reclamation of the additional area will be done in
exactly the same manner as described for the existing portion
of the mine site.
VENT SHAFT (2) and PORTAL AREA (3) - No change
SURFACE RAILROAD (4)
An island exists between the railroad (Area 4) and the
Powerline/Refuse Area (Area 14) on the northern end of the
railroad. We wish to eliminate this island and add the 12 ,
acres to the existing 109 acres of the railroad affected land
acreage. Approximately 7 acres of this area may require some
regrading because of steep slope stability problems. The
remaining 5 acres is buffer.
Disturbance of the 7 acres may occur as early as 1981.
Reclamation of the area will be done exactly as described in
the existing permit for the railroad slopes.
-3-
