The applicant mentions in Exhibit D -Mining plan that a 6" pump will be used for dewatering
of cells 8 and 9. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(b) please provide the average depth to
groundwater for remaining azeas to be excavated at the Lazimer Pit.
10. The applicant indicates on page 2 of the Amendment Application form that gasoline, diesel,
oils, ad mixtures, and low pH soap will be used or stored within the permit area. In conformance
with Rule 6.4.7(2)(c) please provide a spill containment and countermeasures plan or explanation
of measures that will be taken to minimize the potential for contamination of surface and/or
groundwater resources at the Larimer Pit.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT L -Reclamation Costs
11. The Division has reviewed your Mazch 7, 2003 revised reclamation cost information for the
Larimer Pit. The Division is in agreement with a majority of these costs. However, the Division
has calculated a total reclamation of cost of $300,000 (see attached costs). This total costs
includes an average cost acre for revegetation of $500/acre which includes seedbed preparation,
seed cost, fertilizer, and mulch. Also, we have included additional costs for dewatering of pits 6-
9, tree & shrub establishment, equipment mobilization & demobilization, and indirect costs.
The Division is willing to discuss and adjust these costs, if appropriate. Please respond.
12. I have attached a copy of the Division's "Guide to Specification Preparation For Slurry Walls
and Clay Liners" in the event that Loveland Read Mix wishes to pursue a regulated construction
option (and bonding) for the Pond 2 liner to be installed. Please contact the Division at your
eazliest convenience if you wish to pursue the regulated construction option rather than bonding
for 100% liner installation.
