EXHIBIT I
Soils Information
Most of the soils within the proposed permit boundary have been disturbed by existing mining
operations, The soil information contained in the original permit and subsequent amendments
are still applicable. The primary soils in the azea consist of Aquolls (approximately 65% of site)
and Aquepts (approximately 25%). The soils are not considered prime for agricultural use,
especially considering the average depth of the overburden material. The average depth for these
soils is 2 feet and they are underlain by sand and gravel deposits. The sand and gravel deposits
range from 8 feet deep further south on the site to 20 feet deep neaz the river.
The existing permit and amendment include maps and additional detail regarding the on site
soils.

SEP 21 2000
Division of Reclamation,
Mmtng an6 Saeiy
Weld County Hokestra Pit
DMG I/2 PermilAmendment
Page 18
