MINING PLAN
Haulage of Sand or Pit Run Materials
REQUIREMENT: Haulage of the sand to the processing plant or out of the site
for processing elsewhere will only occur along established transportation routes. Cross-country
driving will not occur due to the possibility of spreading noxious weeds.
Discussion: This requirement for no cross-country driving is particulazly important
in lowland areas where noxious weeds are abundant most everywhere. In upland azeas this is not so
important. Cross-country driving may also create disturbances that require rehabilitation particularly if
the same path is driven several times. It needs to be remembered that all disturbances created by the
operation must be reclaimed unless it is specifically exempt in the approved plan. Disturbing land
needlessly simply adds to the reclamation obligation and the reclamation costs.
REQUIREMENT: All drivers will observe speed limits and drivers must be aware
of wildlife on the road. Wildlife always has the right-of--way.
REQUIREMENT: If a new haulage route is needed to access a mining area and
remove materials, then that new road will become a transportation corridor and all weed control
requirements will apply to that road. If the roadway is subsequently reclaimed, then the reclamation
plan weed control requirements will apply. Prior to establishing new roadways, the entire road route
will be treated for noxious weeds not less than five days prior to constructing the roadway.
Furthermore, for new haulage routes that do not go through mined areas (along the edge of a mined
area, if possible, so reclamation units are not divided), the ordnance search requirements apply.
Discussion: In accessing new azeas for mining, Gaze will be taken to follow routes
that avoid heavy concentrations of noxious weeds. If possible, anticipated areas for future mining will
receive at least an initial weed treatment prior to working on the new site. If an access path has been
treated it will be clearly marked at the time of treatment.
Processing of the Mined Materials
Processing of the mined sand will occur at the processing plant location. Some sand mined at
the site will not be processed on site, but will be hauled to other off-site locations where it will be
processed. Those other locations aze elsewhere in the Denver metropolitan area and quite distant from
the Coal Creek mining area. Off-site processing locations are therefore not affected land.
Coal Creek Sand Resource Amendment 3 (2005) - M-1988-044 Exhibit D Page 36
