Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 8 Page 2 003-2203
Ames continued hauling and placement of Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF) in Phase
IVb.
Ames utilized a Caterpillar 330 excavator with a baz attachment to taper the crest and shoulder area
of the in-place LVSCF material.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for underground workings UG-485, UG~87, and
UG-488 and UG-315. Ames performed excavation and geogrid remediation ofUG-316.
Ames performed local cut to fills of SF materials along the south side of Substation Hill. A Cat D8
dozer performed fill placement and a Cat 563 SDVR would compact the material per method
specification within the VLF limits.
Ames completed construction of the permanent diversion channel on the Substation Hill area.
Phase IVc
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVc construction area on
underground working UG-304, UG-508, and UG-291 during this reporting period. Ames performed
a blast at UG-304 on January 15"'.
Ames placed Cemented Rock frll (CR) at UG-288/289, and UG-498, and Structural Fill (SF) over
previously remediated workings at UG-288/289, UG-499, UG-500, UG-502, UG-503, and UG-
505/558.
Ames performed local cut to fills of SF materials along the access road on Raven IIil] and down slope
to temporary stockpiles above the Connolly haul road elevation.
Field Monitoring_and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase N earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill
areas was observed. Golder observed Structural Fill (SF) placement in Phase IV for materials, lift
thickness, moisture content, and campactive effort.
Golder observed and documented excavation remediation activities associated with the Phase IV
underground working construction. Workings were designated as "Shallow or Deep" as defined in
the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Golder observed placement of SF, geogrid, and CR for underground working remediation. These
materials were placed in accordance with the drawings and specifications into excavated or open
underground workings. Golder obtained samples of LVSCF for laboratory index testing. Materials
supplied met specifications.
enau nro a,mms,s, zoosdoc Golder Associates Inc.
