CAMEO GRAVEL
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
The Ute Water filtration plant is located approximately 1/4 mile to the South on a lower
(100 ft.) bench just North of Rapid Creek.
Palisade Water filtration plant is located across Rapid Creek approximately'/: mile
South from the site.
A previous rip/rap quarry, which is not active at this time, was located on William
Scoggins property (Mesa County Conditional Use Permit C~5-86) approximately 1!8
mile to the Southwest of this proposed site.
The closest residence is William Scoggins, located North of Rapid Creek. The next
closest resident is Emery Atchinson, approximately 1/4 mile westerly of William
Scoggins. Both residents have been contacted and have no objections to the project
(See enclosed Approval Forms).
9.) TRANSPORTATION
Trucks wilt be used to transport the material approximately 314 mile from the storage
yard site to the I-70 frontage road. The existing haul road to I-70 will be improved with
select materials during the life of the quarry on an as-needed basis.
All but two short sections of the existing haul road are on property owned by the
applicant. The short sections (700 & 800 feet) of road are on property owned by
Powderhom Properties. Easements have been secured by Rudy Fontanari to use
these roads (See Exhibit "N").
It is estimated that an average of 25 loads with a maximum of 150 loads will be hauled
from the site per day. A water truck will be used for dust suppression on the haul road
as needed.
Access to the I-70 distribution point will be at the truck stop interchange near Island
Acres. The I-70 roads have been designed for heavy use and should not be negatively
impacted by the additional proposed haul traffic. The close access to a major point of
delivery enhances the value of the proposed mineral extraction site.
10.) COMPATIBILITY OF LAND USE
This site is located within the perimeter of an identified minerals resource area (A4) on
Plate 2 of the "Mineral Resource Survey of Mesa County". Evaluation of the minerals
resource (See Bames Geologic Report) confirmed the sites to contain deposits of
commercial value.
No residential or commercial developments exist or are proposed which will restrict the
ability of the owner to extract the minerals available.
4
