The analytipl method to be used to analyze for DIMP. is it consistent with what the Army uses at
RMA?
2. "An agreement to submit the results of the analyses to the Division within 30 days of the sampling
date'
3. A statement that those collecting and analyzing the samples are certified to perform that work.
4. Note the required sampling frequency for each site.
5. For OA/QC purposes, every tenth sample, collect and analyze duplipte samples. Additionally,
lab~pedf}ed OA/QC practices, such as periodic blanks, should be followed,
Since the Order requires notification and a response plan for any DIMP detected above 8 wg/L, the
monitoring plan should indude this course of action.
AS discussed in our October 26, 2004 meeting, the pre-mining sample of the watt needs to be
repeated since the purge time was 4-7 minutes, Instead of the minimum 12 minutes needed for three
casing volumes. The August 6, 2003 lake sample is acceptable.
Lake Samnlina Protocol
1 Introduction
1. Update the reference and the link to the TCEO lake sampling procedures.
2. Note that the Tri-County Health Department protocols were also consulted.
2 Protect Description
• in the first sentence, please dtange'irrigation well° to "lake.'
3 Preparation
1. Please separate preparation acttvitfes from equipment needed.
2. Confirm sample bottle size. Field notes from the August 2003 samples say 2.5 L versus 1 L noted
here.
3. What kind of "Information on ttre spedfic laboratory analysis to be pedormed' is needed?
4 Sampling Method
1. Now will the depth at which the sample is taken be measured?
2. What will be the sampling point, once the lake water level is dropped up to 15 feet? Are any
contingencies needed during dewatering, such as sampling from the discharge of a settling pond,
to avoid particulate Interference? Please indude a map showing the sampling points(s).
3. What information will appear on the sample label?
4. Include that the sample must be kept in the dark (on ice).
5 Field Dafa and Reporting
• Just to clarify, are any preservatives expected to be used?
7 Sample Delivery
• Please place a deadline for sample delivery to the lab (within 24 hours?).
