Bob Oswald
Re: Sunday Mine, Permit M-1977-285
Request for Technical Revision
Page Z of 6
occurs slightly outside the existing Permit boundary. This disturbance occurred during
operations conducted by previous operators.
The original Sunday Mine Permit and Carnation Mine Permit (Permit M-1977-416) boundaries
are close to each other along their common east/west sides. Under Technical Revision TR-1
approved by the Division on December 11, 2003 for the Carnation Mine Permit M-1977-416, the
eastern edge of the Camation Permit was modified to match the proposed revised western
boundary of the Sunday Mine Permit Affected Area. The revised Sunday Mine Affected Area
boundary, which encompasses the existing waste dump, extends outside the Sunday Mine 112
Permit boundary along the west edge of the waste dump (see Figures 2 and 3).
The Sunday Mine 112 Permit boundary has been adjusted slightly in the area of the west mine
dump so that the Sunday 112 Permit and the Camation 110 Permit share a common boundary.
During final reclamation, the Operator can blend the west edge of the Sunday waste dump into
the east edge of the Carnation Mine Affected Area. As evidenced by the attached record of
payment of annual claim maintenance fees to the Bureau of Land Management, the Operator
maintains valid mining claims (see Figure 1) over the areas encompassed by both the Sunday
Mine and Carnation Mine Permits. Although past mine operations resulted in disturbance
occumng slightly outside of the Sunday Mine 112 Permit boundary, the revisions proposed by
the Operator, in this Technical Revision Request and Carnation Mine TR-1, ensure that all
disturbances are within grounds controlled by the Operator and under valid Permits.
The S-3 vent hole included under the Sunday Mine Permit is located very close to the Sunday
Mine 112 Permit boundary (see 1" = 200' map). The Operator has made a slight adjustment to
the Permit boundary in this azea to be certain that the Affected Area at S-3 is fully encompassed
within the Permit.
Both of the minor Permit boundary refinements described above have been made on the updated
maps submitted herewith. In order to "offset" the acreage added with the minor adjustments, the
Permit boundary has been modified to correspondingly reduce the acreage under the Permit. The
total acreage added in the boundary refinements described above is 3.6 acres. An area exactly
equal to the added acreage has been removed from the Sunday Mine 112 Permit. The reduction
has been made on the west edge of the Sunshine 2 claim, which is located north of County Road
20R. No mine related disturbances have taken place in this area.
In conjunction with updating of the mine site maps, the Operator delineated a new Affected Area
boundary at the Sunday Mine site to cover all mine-related disturbances. The corners of this
Affected Area boundary have been marked in the field, and the Operator has provided formal
notification (see Operator correspondence dated November 20, 2003 re Corrective Action
Completed) to the Division of Minerals and Geology (the "Division"). The total Affected Area
acreage under this Permit remains at 40 acres, and no additions to this acreage are presently
requested or proposed.
Description of Boundary
The proposed Affected Area boundary for the Sunday Mine 112 Permit encompasses the
following features:
