9.3 Reinforcement <br />• 9.3.1 Scooe <br />The Contractor shall furnish, bend, cut, and place steel <br />reinforcement required for concrete construction. The Drawings <br />included as part of this Specification only show the amount <br />and general arrangement of the reinforcement. -the Contractor <br />shall provide detailed bar lists and placement details. <br />Drawings and bar lists shall conform to the requirements of <br />ACI 318, Chapter 7 and ACI 315. <br />9.3.2 Material <br />All reinforcement shall be new and shall be deformed bars <br />in accordance with ASTM A-615, grade 60. The cleaning, placing, <br />spacing, bending, and splicing of reinforcement shall conform <br />to the applicable provisions of ACI 318 and the CRSI Manual <br />• , of Standard Practice, unless otherwise shown on the Drawings <br />or approved by the Engineer. <br />9.3.3 Fabrication and Cleaning <br />Before the reinforcement is embedded in concrete, all <br />loose rust, scale, and other objectionable material likely to <br />be found on reinforcing bars, such as paint, oil, grease, mud <br />and mortar, shall be removed by wire brushing, sand-blasting, <br />wiping with burlap or other effective means. <br />Reinforcement shall be accurately formed to the <br />dimensions indicated on the Drawings. All bars shall be bent <br />cold. Reinforcement shall not be straightened or rebent. Bars <br />with kinks or bends not shown on the Drawings shall not be <br />used. Heating or welding of the reinforcement shall not be <br />permitted, except, bars may be flame cut to length. <br />• <br />46 <br />
