the specified quality and composition, and shall be within the <br />• following limits of accuracy: <br />Cement ± 1 percent; <br />Water ± 1 percent; and <br />Aggregate ± 2 percent. <br />All materials shall be mechanically measured by weight <br />except the admixtures and water, which may bce measured by <br />volume. When stationary mixers are used, the Contractor shall <br />maintain records of the amounts of the various materials <br />entering each batch and the time of batching. When truck mixers <br />are used, the Contractor shall submit a certified delivery <br />ticket with each mixer load. Said ticket shall show the <br />quantities of the various ingredients containedi in the batch <br />and the time of batching. <br />Ready-mixed concrete, if furnished, shall be batched, <br />mixed, and delivered to the point of need in accordance with <br />• ASTM C-94, subject to the provisions of this Specification. <br />9.2.5 Mixin <br />Concrete mixers may be stationary mixers or truck mixers, <br />or a design approved by the Engineer. The mixers shall be <br />capable of combining the materials into a uniform mixture and <br />of discharging this mixture without segregation. The mixers <br />shall be maintained in satisfactory operating condition, and <br />mixer drums shall be kept free of hardened concrete. Mixer <br />blades shall be replaced when worn down more than 10 percent <br />of their depth. The use of any mixer that at any time produces <br />concrete of a quality not consistent with the Specification, <br />shall be immediately discontinued until the mixer is repaired. <br />• <br />45 <br />
