placement in the forms shall be four inches plus or minus one <br />• inch. <br />9.2.3 Materials <br />Materials furnished by the Contractor for use in concrete <br />construction shall conform to the requirements of the following <br />sections. All materials actually used are subject to the <br />approval of the Engineer. <br />9.2.3.1 Aaareaate <br />All aggregate shall be stone aggregate conforming to ASTM <br />C-33. <br />9.2.3.2 Cement <br />Cement, except as otherwise specified herein, shall be <br />• ` a brand of Portland cement, approved by the Engineer, <br />conforming to ASTM C-150 or C-175 and shall be Type 1 or <br />Type II. Only one brand of cement shall be used throughout the <br />duration of the work. <br />9.2.3.3 Water <br />Water used for mixing concrete shall conform to the <br />requirements of ACI 301. If the Contractor proposes to use <br />nonpotable water, compressive strengths of .concrete test <br />specimens made from such water shall be laboratory certified <br />prior to actual use of said nonpotable water sources. <br />9.2.4 Batchina <br />Delivery of materials from the hatching equipment to the <br />mixer shall be accurately controlled to produce concrete of <br />• <br />44 <br />
