9.3.4 Placing <br />• Reinforcement shall be accurately positioned and secured <br />against displacement by using annealed iron wire ties (16 gage <br />or heavier), or suitable clips at intersections, and shall be <br />supported by concrete or metal supports, spacers, and hangers. <br />In all cases, sufficient supports for horizontal reinforcement <br />shall be used so that there will be no sagging of the bars. <br />9.4 Formwork <br />9.4.1 General <br />The Contractor shall provide suitable and adequate <br />formwork conforming to ACI Special Publication No. 4, "Formwork <br />for Concrete," and to shapes, lines, elevations, and dimensions <br />of concrete shown on the Drawings. <br />• , 9.4.2 Surface Treatment <br />Before any reinforcement is placed, all forms shall be <br />oiled or otherwise treated as specified or approved by the <br />Engineer. Form oil shall be a colorless mineral oil, free of <br />kerosene and shall conform to the requirements of ASTM D-1500. <br />9.4.3 Repair of Concrete <br />Defective concrete, honeycombed areas, voids left by the <br />removal of tie rods, and ridges on all concrete surfaces <br />permanently exposed on the finished structure shall be repaired <br />immediately after the removal of forms. Voids left by removal <br />of tie rods shall be reamed and completely filled with dry- <br />pack mortar. Oefective concrete shall be repaired by cutting <br />out the unsatisfactory material and placing new concrete, which <br />shall be secured with keys or a suitable epoxy bonding <br />material. <br />• <br />47 <br />
