If material is left on <br />• the fill to dry, no material may be placed over the wet <br />material until it has been dried, reworked, and properly <br />compacted. <br />Mixing of wet and dry material to obtain the proper <br />moisture content shall not be done. Placing mixed material <br />shall only be done after the material has cured and a uniform <br />distribution of the moisture content has been achieved and <br />approved by the Engineer. <br />6.4.2 Aoolication of Water <br />Water may be applied to fi 11 materials wi thi n the borrow <br />area or within the disposal area using water trucks and a <br />frequency acceptable to the Engineer. It is the intent of this <br />Specification that adjustments in the moisture content be made <br />principally within the borrow area. <br />• 1 6.4.3 Cohesionless/Sand and Rock Fill <br />Sand fill materials shall be uniformly wetted only as <br />necessary to facilitate placement and prevent fugitive dust <br />as outlined in Section 3.3. <br />6.5 Conduct of Work <br />The Contractor shall route his construction equipment and take <br />all other actions necessary to prevent material of the type required <br />from being deposited inadvertently, within areas which will adversely <br />impact hydraulic or structural performance. Any improperly deposited <br />material shall be removed from the embankment as required by the <br />Engineer. The material removed should not be reused and shall be <br />wasted in locations designated by the Engineer. <br />• <br />26 <br />
