5.2 Access Roads <br />Contractor's access roads shall be planned in such a manner <br />that excavation of said roads shall coincide, to the extent <br />practicable, with the construction of a permanent road and other <br />excavations associated with the project. Prior to development of <br />access roads, the Contractor shall submit a plan showing their <br />location and size for the Engineer's approval. <br />5.3 Borrow Areas <br />Borrow areas shall be established, as necessary, for bedding <br />materials and supplemental embankment materials. The location, <br />physical dimensions, and depth of stripping shall be identified by <br />the Engineer prior to commencement of work requiring such borrow <br />material. Within borrow areas, cut slopes shall be maintained at 3:1 <br />or less. <br />~ 5.4 Surface Drainage Diversion Channels <br />Prior to initiating work within the disposal area, the surface <br />drainage diversion channels shown on the Drawings shall be <br />constructed. These channels shall be excavated to the lines and <br />grades shown on the Drawings and shall be discharged to the natural <br />drainage areas shown. Topsoil and excess excavation materials from <br />within the disposal area shall be placed in they appropriate <br />stockpiles as approved by the Engineer. <br /> <br />18 <br />
