3.0 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS <br />• 3.1 General <br />The Contractor shall store materials, confine his equipment, <br />and maintain construction operations within the limits of applicable <br />laws, ordinances, permits, or as outlined by the Engineer. Care shall <br />be exercised to avoid blocking roads or in any other way interfering <br />with the Owner's operations, or presenting a hazard to Owner's <br />personnel and equipment, or to the public. <br />The Contractor shall at all times keep the wark site neat, <br />tidy, and free of waste materials or rubbish resulting from his work. <br />Fuel, lubricating oils, and chemicals shall be stored and dispensed <br />in such a manner as to prevent or contain spills and prevent said <br />liquids from reaching local streams or groundwater. <br />3.2 Diversion and Care of Water <br />• 1 <br />The site is in a dry climate area and anticipated to be dry <br />at the time of construction; however, thunderstorms and runoff may <br />occur during the construction period. Depending upon the duration <br />and severity of the thunderstorm, flash floods are possible. It shall <br />be the Contractor's responsibility to protect his equipment and <br />materials, as well as completed or portions of the work in progress <br />from damage in the event of local thunderstorms or flash floods. The <br />Contractor shall provide dewatering, as needed, at h•~s own expense <br />to maintain drained work areas. <br />The Contractor shall sequence his construction activities to <br />minimize flash flood damage to the earthworks covered under these <br />Specifications. In the event neglect or poor construcaion planning <br />results in flood damage to the facilities constructed or being <br />constructed, the facilities shall be repaired or replaced to the <br />satisfaction of the Engineer, at the Contractor's expense.
