In preparing the work sequence, the necessity of obtaining
• borrow from mandatory excavations within the disposal area and areas
subsequently requiring fill placement shall be considered. Synthetic
liner placement shall be coordinated with subsequent drain pipe
installation, liner bedding placement, starter berm and cell berm
construction, and drain fill operations.
The following is a suggested general work sequence for
constructing the facilities shown on the Drawings. It is intended
as a guideline for the Contractor to develop his own work sequence
in conjunction with that of the Owner to suit construction equipment
and manpower scheduling and meet design requirements. Additional
activities required to complete the work, as outlined within the
Specifications and as shown on the Drawings, shall be added by the
Contractor. Should the Contractor develop a sequence which would be
more acceptable to the Owner, Engineer and himself let him present
it.
• ~ Develop access roads to work areas, as needed.
• Develop a site drainage plan and maintenance scheme.
• Construct the diversion ditch above the disposal area
to route upstream storm runoffs around the facilities.
• Remove topsoil from the facility area and place in
stockpiles outside the ultimate disposal area limits.
• Prepare the embankment and tailings disposal area
foundation areas for liner installation.
• Install synthetic liners within prepared disposal area
where construction traffic is no longer required. Liner
placement shall be done in segments, as approved by the
Engineer, to minimize construction traffic over the liner
to install the drain systems and berms.
• Install drain pipes, liner bedding material, and the
main and splitter berms over the synthetic liner.
• Construct the lined collection pond facilities.
• Construct the lined collection ditch and berm from the
• embankment to the pond.
8
