CAMEO GRAVEL
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
5.) SITE ACCESS:
Private access to the sites via Rapid Creek Road will be allowed to operator or
employees. However, Cameo Gravel Pit commercial traffic will use I-70 access road in
order to prevent traffic hazards and to minimize traffic congestion along Rapid Creek
Road.
The site will be accessed from I-70 interchange via Gay Johnson's Truck Stop which is
open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The adjacent Cameo Steam Plant and Ute Water
Filter Plant operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Powderhorn Coal Mine, although
now closed, previously operated 24 hours a day.
Site design utilizes the close proximity of a I-70 frontage road now used primarily for
commercial purposes and will have no impact on residential areas. Traffic to and from
the site will use the existing haul road from the I-70 frontage road for a distance of 4000
feet. The traffic generated will be directly related to the demand for material and is
estimated not to exceed 150 loads per day.
6.) MINE PLAN:
The conversion to a (112) permit operation will consist of 3 parcels of land, which
contain 141.92 acres of land.
All the parcels contain commercially viable alluvial deposits of basalt material
originating from the slopes of Grand Mesa East of Rapid Creek drainage basin.
Each parcel has been evaluated for economical potential and estimates have been
made of mineable quantities by Barnes Geologic Consulting, Inc. (See enclosed
reports):
Parcel 1 -Tax Parcel 2709-344-00-070 contains 129.2 acres.
Parcet 2 -Tax Parce12709-353-00-067 contains 10.67 acres.
Parcel 3 -Tax Parcel 2937-021-00-102 contains 2.0 acres.
Two (2) separate mining plans have been laid out (See Exhibit C). The North mine
area is contained within the North half of Parcel 1. The Middle mine area is contained
within the South half of Parcel 1 and all of Parcels 2 and 3. Undisturbed land owned by
the applicant which contains a 100 foot right-of-way for the 114 KV Public Service
Company (X-cel Energy) transmission line is the only basis for separation of the North
and Middle mine areas. Continuous undisturbed property owned by the applicant
connects the North and Middle mine areas.
2
