CAMEO GRAVEL
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
All but two short sections of the existing haul road are on property owned by the
applicant. The short sections (700 & 800 feet) of road are on property owned by
Snowcap Coal (previously Powderhorn Properties). Easements have been secured by
Rudy Fontanari to use these roads (See Exhibit N),
It is estimated that an average of 25 loads with a maximum of 150 loads will be hauled
from the site per day. A water truck will be used for dust suppression on the haul road
as needed.
Access to the I-70 distribution point will be at the truck stop interchange near Island
Acres. The I-70 roads have been designed for heavy use and should not be negatively
impacted by the additional proposed haul traffic. The close access to a major point of
delivery enhances the value of the proposed mineral extraction site.
10.) COMPATIBILITY OF LAND USE:
This site is located within the perimeter of an identified minerals resource area {A-4) on
Plate 2 of the "Mineral Resource Survey of Mesa County". Evaluation of the minerals
resource (See Barnes Geologic Report) confirmed the sites to contain deposits of
commercial value.
No residential or commercial developments exist or are proposed which will restrict the
ability of the owner to extract the minerals available.
No "Area of Special Importance" (Tourist attractions, Historical Site, etc) has been
identified near the site which will be impacted by the extraction process.
The Rapid Creek Road will not be used for transporting of any material extracted from
the site, and will therefore be of no impact to any resident along this road.
Use of I-70 Interchanges at Cameo and Gay Johnson's Truck Stop for transporting
extracted material is compatible with the present use of both interchanges.
The proposed site is remote and well buffered and is not visible from the I-70 corridor or
any residential site.
The surrounding land uses (grazing) will not be impacted. Utility and pipeline
easements have been excluded from excavation boundary except for mining under a
high transmission line span on the North Mine Site.
The existing haul road which connects to I-70 crosses several gas pipeline and water
pipeline easements, and has been used by the existing Western Slope Flagstone
Quarry No. 2 with no known problems.
Dust generated on the haul road will be controlled with a water truck when needed.
