Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 21 Page 2 003-2203
Ames exposed liner at the Phase IVa /Phase IVb anchor trench and at the Phase Nb /Phase III tie-in
• by removing previously placed Drain Cover Fill (DCF).
Ames completed placement of High Volume Solution Collection System (HVSCS) 26-inch primary
piping in the Phase Fdb PSSA. Ames also continued placement of HVSCS secondary and tertiary
piping within the PSSA and began placement of HVSCS piping in the OSA, followed by DCF
placement per project plans. Ames continued to haul and place DCF onto the Phase IVb PSSA upper
geomembrane in the central and eastern portions of the PSSA. Ames began to haul and place DCF in
the Phase IVb OSA, near the LOB. Ames began construction of the haul road west of the LOB, by
placing DCF.
Ames backfilled approximately 600 feet of Leak Detection Trench (LDT) on the south slope of
Substation Hill in the Phase IVb OSA area, tying into the Phase IVa LDT.
Ames continued production of DCF at the screen plant located neaz the secondary crusher.
Ames began construction of the vertical risers in the Phase IVb PSSA sump. Construction of all four
risers was completed to the lower compression joint. Ames placed the HVSCS piping in the vicinity of
the vertical risers. The plans specified twenty 6" HDPE pipes per vertical riser; however, the plans
were modified to allow substitution of two 4" HDPE pipes for each specified 6" pipes for a portion of
the construction.
Ames continued to haul and place Select Drain Cover Fill (SDCF) in the vicinity of the vertical risers,
• per the project plans. Ames began to haul and place ore in the PSSA, placing ore around the risers per
the project plans.
Ames hauled and placed Soil Liner Fill (SLF) material into the Phase IVb OSA, west of the LOB and
adjacent to the Phase IVa /IVb tie-in.
Ames performed excavation activities for resistivity anomolies identified during a recent EI
geophysical survey conducted in the Phase IVb OSA on Substation Hill. No mine workings were
found.
Poly-Flex continued deployment of 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE geomembrane in the Phase
IVb OSA. Geomembrane was placed in the Phase IVb OSA north of the PSSA, and at the Phase
IVa/IVb tie-in. Poly-Flex deployed 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE geomembrane over an area of
approximately 210,221 square feet in the Phase IVb OSA during this reporting period. Geomembrane
panels B-77, B-78, and B-106 through B-183 were deployed, seamed, and pressure tested by Poly-Flex.
Destructive fusion and extrusion seam samples DFb-26 through DFb-30, DFb-34 through DFb-56,
DXb-12 and DXb-13 were marked and removed. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam peel and shear
tests of DFb-26 through DFb-3Q DFb-34 through DFb-45 and DXb-12 were performed and passed per
project specification.
Poly-Flex deployed 100-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane in the Phase IVb OSA on the west end
berm. Poly-Flex deployed 100-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane over an area of approximately 31,466
• square feet in the Phase IVb OSA during this reporting period. Geomembrane panels B-79 through B-
Phue IV6311um8-Ju~e1J:00R.dac Golder Associates Inc.
