Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 19 Page 3 003-2203
• Phase IVc
Ames performed no construction activities in the Phase IVc area during this reporting period.
Field Monitorine and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications.
Golder observed dewatering of LVSCF in the Phase IVb PSSA sump afrer rainfall flooded the area.
Golder also monitored the dewatering of the HVSCS sump prior to placement of the HVSCS riser
base plates.
Golder observed the placement of the riser base plates onto the floor of the upper geomembrane of
the Phase IVb PSSA sump. Golder verified placement of the geotextile, geomembrane, geosynthetic
clay liner, cellular foam, and conveyor belting prior to placement of the steel plates, as per project
plans. Golder also observed the placement of the connecting 26-inch perforated HVSCS primary
piping between the base plates as shown in the project plans.
Golder observed construction of the Leak Detection Trench in Phase IVb for trench dimension (1'
wide by 1' deep), slope (minimum 1%), materials, geomembrane and pipe placement, and geotextile
• overlap.
Golder visually observed the placement of DCF in the Phase IVb PSSA area. Golder CQA monitors
(one monitor per dozer when dozers aze greater than 50 fr apart) observed DCF placement and
verified minimum thickness of 2 feet for finish grade, 4 feet for HVSCS primary pipe locations, and
10 feet for haul road construction.
Golder observed anchor trench excavation in the Phase IVb PSSA and OSA for proper location and
dimension (2' wide by 3' deep). Anchor trench excavation met or exceeded the requirements of the
specifications. Golder observed anchor trench backfill in the Phase IVb PSSA for lifr thickness and
compaction.
Golder observed placement, compaction, and moisture conditioning of SLF in the Phase IVb OSA
for subgrade preparation, thickness, compaction, moisture content, and materials. Golder CQA
monitors performed nineteen nuclear moisture-density tests (SLNb-103 through SLNb-121), two
nuclear moisture-density re-tests (SLNb-106a, and 107a), and five depth verification checks (SLDb-
73 through SLDb-77) on SLF placed within the Phase IVb OSA. The tests performed met the
requirements of the specifications and the nuclear moisture-density results summary is presented in
Attachment B.
Golder observed geomembrane deployment, documenting ambient air temperature, panel
dimensions, thickness, seaming, tie-in overlap, and seam testing (trial seams, pressure, vacuum, and
destructive). Geomembrane placed in the Phase IVb PSSA and in the Phase IVb OSA met the
• project specifications.
PhvelW l9 huy?5-hGyll Y003.doc GOlder ASSOC18teS InO.
