Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 18 Pale 2 003-2203
f, Ames placed, and compacted Structural Fill (SF) material to complete construction of the Phase Nb
PSSA east end berm.
•
I •
Ames hauled and placed Bedding Fill (BF) material at the Phase Nb OSA east end berm azea, above
the PSSA anchor trench.
Ames continued production of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) at the screen plant located near the secondary
crusher.
Ames fusion welded and placed High Volume Solution Collection System (HVSCS) 26-inch primary
piping on the Phase Nb PSSA upper geomembrane. Ames also placed HVSCS secondary and tertiary
piping within the PSSA, followed by DCF placement per project plans.
Ames hauled and placed DCF onto the Phase Nb PSSA upper geomembrane, in the west and north
portions of the PSSA. DCF was placed over previously-installed HVSCS piping, per the project plans.
Ames hauled and placed Low Volume Solution Collection Fill (LVSCF) on the Phase Nb PSSA lower
geomembrane prior to upper geomembrane deployment. Ames re-compacted azeas of the LVSCF in
the PSSA sump riser foundations and de-watered the sump where material was flooded by rainfall.
Ames hauled and placed Soil Liner Fill (SLF) material into the Phase Nb OSA, between the LOB and
the north slope of the PSSA.
Poly-Flex continued deployment of 100-mil double-sided smooth (upper) LLDPE geomembrane in the
Phase Nb PSSA. Poly-Flex deployed 100-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane over an area of
approximately 210,850 square feet in the Phase Nb PSSA during this reporting period. Geomembrane
panels U-364 through U-367, U-381 through U-397, and U-401 through U-417 were deployed, seamed,
and pressure tested by Poly-Flex. Destructive fusion seam samples DFu-109 through DFu-122 were
mazked and removed. Destructive fusion seam peel and shear tests of samples DFu-109 through DFu-
110, and DFu-112 though DFu-122 were performed and passed per project specifications. DFu-111
failed to meet project specification and additional destructive samples were taken until passing
conditions were met to delineate and repair the failed seam.
Poly-Flex continued and completed deployment of 100-mil double-sided textured (upper) LLDPE
geomembrane in the Phase Nb PSSA. Poly-Flex deployed 100-mil double-sided textured LLDPE
geomembrane over an azea of approximately 6,900 squaze feet in the Phase Nb PSSA during this
reporting period. Geomembrane panels U-355 through U-362 (not including U-361) were deployed,
seamed, and pressure tested by Poly-Flex. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam samples DFu-108 and
DXu-06 were mazked and removed. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam peel and sheaz tests of these
samples were performed and passed per project specification.
Poly-Flex began and completed deployment of 100-mil single-sided textured (upper), textured side
down, LLDPE geomembrane for the Phase Nb PSSA sump floor azea, at the extents of the double-
sidedtextured area, and to the north of the sump, as indicated by 12FI-102.
Phase1Vb 18 Nayl8 Nay242p03(1)doc Golder Associates lnc.
