Division of Minerals and Gealogp <br />Tackifier 2001bs. <br />Straw Mulch (approx) 100 bales <br />Herbicides are applied annually to control weed growth on the stockpiles, (See Exhibit E). All of the stockpiled <br />overburden will ultimately be used in the reclamation process. <br />An existing stockpile of <br />overburden located along the <br />south side of Phase ll. The <br />stockpile also serves as a <br />visual berm between the <br />mining activities and US <br />Highway 6. <br />Setbacks between each of the mining areas and the property boundary have been maintained to protect the <br />integrity of the adjoining land. The sand and gravel mining process will be conducted using loaders, and/or <br />excavators. Blasting of the resource is not necessary. Haul trucks will transport the resource to the nearby <br />crushing and screening area, or the ultimate delivery site. The crushed and screened material will then be <br />loaded, transported and stockpiled in the staging area where it will be used in asphalt and concrete production, <br />or hauled to a construction site for use. Each phase includes a layer of sand and gravel up to 25 feet thick. <br />Gravel extraction occurs in approximately 20 foot tiffs until the underlying bedrock stratum has been reached. <br />CRUSHING AND STOCKPILE AREAS -The excavated gravel resource is crushed and stockpiled according to <br />size near the mining area. Maximum processing is appro>amately 3,000 tons per day. Since a portable crusher <br />is used, the location of the crushing operation changes as the mining proceeds across each of the mining <br />areas. As much as 30,000 tons of used asphalt pavement and concrete rubble is also stockpiled within the <br />staging area for future crushing. Once the asphalt and concrete is crushed to its proper size, it is stockpiled for <br />use as a recycled material in new construction. Occasionally, soil that has been determined to be free of debris <br />and inert may be brought to the site and stockpiled for use in construction related activities or, for the <br />reclamation efforts. <br />Rev. 08/10/03 <br />
