With an :tveragc depth of <br />3.9 feet, the capacity of the pond is 2.73 acre-feet. The topsoil from the excavation will be stored <br />in the stockpile just aba+•c the northwest comer of Pit I (Map C•2). Topsoil fiom Pit I will be <br />stored in this stockpile as well. Sinee the salvageable topsoil in this mining urea is approximately <br />1.11 feet, and Pit I is 29.78 acres in size. the total acreage is 30.43 acres and the total volume is <br />49,170 cuhic yards. Sitie-slopes of 2H: I V, and u height of 2G feet will hold the excavated 49,170 <br />cy. Upon the completed mining of Pit 1, this stockpile will be rcturncd to the pit for the creation <br />of a wellmul shelf un fire northw•estem side of the pit. and the building of 31i: l V reclaimed <br />slopes in the pit. The sediment pond will have a gated discharge structure of 3"diameter that can <br />easily be shut to keep water in the pond if necessary. An 13' high bemt will provide visual <br />protection to all traffic on Intestate 70 during the mine life.
