Geoteehnical Assessment of Construction Activities for Amendment of Permit
• Proposed Brighton Water Storage Project, Adams County, Colorado
Job No. 03-1076
the pond slopes. Therefore, so long as existing slope angles are maintained or
flattened, we do not anticipate development of failures that would adversely affect
existing structures. We understand that Les Ewegen, LLC, has committed to repair any
slope failures (likely to be surficial) that may develop and make other necessary repairs.
Therefore, in GROUND's opinion, the likelihood of structures being adversely affected by
the proposed pond deepening is low.
We understand that the plans for proposed bridge to span Fulton Ditch near 120'
Avenue are being reviewed by an engineer for Fulton Ditch. GROUND understands that
the ditch embankments are on the order of 5 to 6 feet in height. We also understand
that present plans call for the footings at the bridge abutments to be 6 or more feet from
the edge of the ditch. We anticipate that the footings will be set 3 or more feet below
existing grades. Therefore, we do not anticipate adverse affects on the ditch
embankments from installation of the proposed bridge, based on geotechnical
considerations. We recommend, however, that temporary excavations and foundation
backfilling near the ditch be done when the ditch is empty.
GROUND further understands that truck traffic along the existing temporary access road
traversing the parcel south of the Brighton Water Storage Project will continue in a
manner similar to current usage. Therefore, although there are a barn and asingle-
family residence within the 200-foot radius of interest of that road, other than nuisance
noise and vibration, we do not anticipate That distress to the structures or their
foundations will develop from this continuing truck traffic, based on observation of
existing conditions.
We trust that this provides the information that you needed at this time. If you have any
questions, please contact this office.
Sincerely,
GROUND Engineering Consultants, Inc.
~~.~
C'
Brian H. Reck, C.E.G. Reviewed by James B.
