October 29, 2003
Subject: Geotechnical Assessment of
Construction Activities for Amendment of
Permit, Brighton Water Storage Project,
Adams County, Colorado
Job No. 03-1076
Mr. Les Ewegen
Les Ewegen, LLC
37615 Weld County Road 39
Eaton, Colorado 80615
Dear Mr. Ewegen:
At your request, Ground Engineering Consultants, Inc., (GROUND) has evaluated the
likely geotechnical impacts of several proposed construction activities for the Brighton
Water Storage Project southeast of the intersection of 124`" Avenue and U.S. Highway
85, in Adams County, Colorado, with regard to structures within 200 feet of the activities.
The following operations were considered:
1) Deepening by approximately 5 feet the southwestern quarter of the skiing pond
on property to the west of the Brighton Water Storage Project.
2) Constructing a temporary construction traffic bridge across the Fulton Ditch near
120"' Avenue.
3) Continuing to use the existing temporary construction access road across the
property south of the Brighton Water Storage Project.
With regard to deepening of the skiing pond, we understand that chat work is being
performed for that property owner under separate agreement from the construction of
the Brighton Water Storage Project for the City of Brighton. GROUND has not
performed subsurface exploration in the vicinity of the pond proposed for deepening.
The existing pond slopes in that area appear to have been stable against deep-seated
failure for an extended period of time. No structures appeared to be within 200 feet of
ROUIII
E N G I N E E R I N G C O N S U L T R N T S
41 Inverness Drive East, Englewood, CO 80112-5412 Phone (303) 289-1989 Fax (303) 289.1686
North Ofrice: 7393 Dahlia Street, Commerce City, CO 80022-1834 www.groundeng.eom Fax (303) 289.6742
