greater than 1,320 gallons of oil in above-ground storage tanks. Less than this volume of 1,320
gallons of oil would be stored at the Topaz mine; therefore, no SPCC plan is required.
G.2 Groundwater
A CDPHE Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) groundwater discharge permit is not
required at the Sunday Mine Complex because mine dewatering (and subsequent discharge of
water) does not occur at the mine. It is not anticipated that groundwater will be encountered
during mining operations; however, should groundwater seep into the underground mine
workings, Denison will route the water to sumps within the mine, making the Topaz Mine a zero
groundwater discharge mine.
G.3 Water Usage
Water used during production will be used for drifting, sanitation, and dust suppression and will
be provided by a mine contractor. It is expected that mining operations at the Topaz Mine will
consume 2,800 gallons per week and 19,500 cubic feet annually. Sanitation and dust suppression
will use 200 gallons per week and 1,400 cubic feet annually.
The average annual precipitation at the Topaz Mine is 11.6 inches. It is anticipated that
precipitation alone will be sufficient for revegetation efforts during reclamation.
5-18-2007 Ezhibit G Water Info (i-3
