Roof support will consist of metal roof mats anchored into the roof using 5- to 8-foot-long
mechanical split-set roof bolts. Bolting will be performed as necessary with the spacing varying
according to roof conditions and the size of the opening. The size of the mine openings will
depend on roof conditions, but will typically be no greater than 14-feet wide based on the
experience of similar mining operations conducted in the same formation. Ten-foot-long mats
will be installed diagonally on the ribs when additional rib support is required.
The underground area will also include maintenance and storage areas. Routine maintenance and
minor repairs will generally be done underground with more extensive repairs and maintenance
completed in the surface shop. Roof support materials, blasting supplies, lubricants, and the
smaller and more commonly used equipment parts will be stored in designated locations
underground. These locations are expected to change as the mine workings ace advanced.
Groundwater seepage is expected to be minimal. Underground sumps will be constructed if
groundwater is encountered. Any water pumped from these sumps will be contained in the mine.
The Topaz Mine is a zero discharge facility with regard to conveyance and discharge of mine
water at the ground surface.
D.4.5 Exploration
Exploration drilling will take place concurrent with mine operation. It is anticipated that
approximately 50 surface holes will be drilled annually. It is anticipated that 2 to 3 acres of
surface disturbance will occur annually in association with the exploratory drill holes. These
areas will be immediately reclaimed following drilling. All exploration will be conducted under a
state-wide prospecting band compliant with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act. As
noted above, Denison submitted astate-wide bond to DRMS on April 25, 2007.
D.5 Infrastructure
This section discusses the infrastructure required at the mine to support existing and proposed
mining activities.
D.5.1 • Work Force
The Topaz Mine will initially employ approximately five miners and support personnel to
rehabilitate and further develop the main declines, and then expand to I S employees during full
production. Mining operations began in 2007 and are anticipated to extend until 2027.
5-I8-2007 Exhibit D Mining Plan D-l3
