Employees will be based in surrounding towns and commute to the mine on a daily basis.
Employees will commute to the Topaz Mine in personal vehicles and will carpool from
surrounding towns or the Sunday Mine, as necessary, to accommodate the limited parking space
available at the Topaz Mine.
D.5.2 Electric Power
Electric power is currently supplied to the Topaz Mine portal by San Miguel Power and is
expected to be sufficient for mine operations at the portal area throughout the production life of
the Topaz Mine. Expansion of the electrical system will be necessary as the mine grows.
Electric lines will be run to future vent holes as necessary. Reclamation of areas disturbed by
installation and removal of electric lines will typically be performed by San Miguel Power unless
otherwise agreed upon by Denison, San Miguel Power, BLM, and DRMS.
D.5.3 Water Supply
Non-potable water will be supplied to the Topaz Mine surface facilities by a 500-gallon buried
steel water tank located southwest of the maintenance shop. Bottled water for drinking will be
supplied to the Topaz Mine as required. Non-potable water required for production drilling
operations will be supplied by a 500-gallon buried steel tank located immediately east of the
portal. A third 500-gallon buried steel water tank will be used to store a water and calcium
chloride mixture for dust suppression. This tank will be located north of the maintenance shop.
The tanks will be routinely replenished by a mine contractor.
D.5.4 Site Layout and Support Facilities
The surface facilities will encompass a total of 13.7 acres (including the portal access road), 9.9
acres of which were previously disturbed during mining activities at the Topaz Mine. The
expansion of the permitted area will be required for the expanded WRA. The facilities at the
Topaz Mine will include the WRA, ore and soil stockpiles, a maintenance shop, and support
equipment. The Topaz Mine proposed surface facilities are shown on Figure C-4.
D.5.5 HauVAccess Roads
Secondary permanent roads access the surface facilities at the Topaz Mine from County Road
20R. Several historical, existing and proposed secondary access roads are present throughout the
Sunday Mine Complex. These roads provide access to the vent holes, exploration borings, and
5-18-2007 Exhibit D Mining Plan D-l4
