D.4 Proposed Operations
This section describes the proposed operations at the Topaz Mine.
D.4.1 Resource Estimate
The mine will be developed to ultimately support a maximum ore production rate of
approximately $,000 to 6,000 tons per month. It is estimated that a maximum of 2$,000 tons of
ore will be produced in 2007 and a maximum of 70,000 tons of ore will be produced annually.
The actual rate of production will vary based on mine development and market conditions. An
ore stockpile density of 130 pounds per cubic foot (Ibs/fr') was assumed to convert tonnage to
cubic yards. Based on previous mining in the Sunday Mine Complex, an average waste-to-ore
ratio of 1:2 for mine production is assumed. The waste-to-ore ratio is expected to be higher
during development of the decline and laterals, up to 1:1, and is expected to decrease significantly
during later production resulting in the generation of less waste rock.
D,4.2 Estimated Acreage of the Existing and Proposed Affected Lands
The total affected lands associated with the Topaz Mine will include surface facilities at the portal
area, vent hole pads, and access roads. The affected lands are outlined in Table D-1.
Table D-1
Affected Lands
°' ~ ~~ t'~ ~~ ~ ~~ Pro ose iecfead~,i ea~s acr } , t°
~ ~ ~ : ~ ~~ ~ullescripttbn ~ t ~ ~ ~ ~~ "~ ~ ~~ ~~`E~tsfing ~'~rxpagded ~~
~ ?KoP~
s~
i .~a ," ~ >r i `~?'~ , ~a a ~ a -~ ~ k~ i i5
' . t sk h "E' r °c.;. a
" ,
r
._
r,.~..n'.tt.... ......:- x~."~ ~.:..,~°_....i ~
~.. .. .....Area.4='~ ea,~~.
...3Ar .~TofaGArea..:=
Surface Facilities Area and Diversion Channels 7.7 3.8 11.$
Portal Access Road 2.2 0.0 2.2
Vent Hole T-1 Pad (Access off main road, no 0.1 0.0 0.1
new access road
Proposed Vent Hole Pads (T-2 though T-6) - 0.0 1.2$ 1.2$
To az Mine
Access Roads to Vent Holes (9,977' long x 12' 0.0 2.7$ 2.7$
wide)
Potential Future Vent Holes and Access Roads NA NA 12.2
(undefined locations within the ermit bounda )
Total 10.0 7.8 30.0
Note:
1 The surface disturbance associated with the existing vent hole is permitted under
an exploration permit and will be included in the expanded affected area under the
112 permit.
5-18-2007 Exhibit D Mining Plan D-$
