<br />n <br />u <br />The first phase of the mining operation will continue from the <br />south and west area of the existing permitted area to the proposed <br />amended south and west limit boundaries. <br />Phase one contains approximately 24.7 acres. It is estimated that <br />10 to 12 years of mining activity would occur in phase one. <br />Phase two of the mining operation would commence at the south <br />existing permitted boundary and mine east and south to the proposed <br />amended south and east limit boundaries. <br />Phase two contains approximately 19.8 acres. It is estimated that <br />8 to 10 years of mining activity would occur in phase two. <br />Phase three of the mining operation would continue north and east <br />from phase 2 to the proposed amended boundaries, north and east. <br />Phase three contains approximately 17 acres. It is estimated that <br />6 to 8 years of mining activity would occur in phase three. <br />It is the County"s desire that anytime in the life of the pit area <br />that it is feasible to get proper back slope, topsoil and grading <br />to reclaim 8 to 10 acres as an ongoing reclamation project. <br />• This will not be a definitely phased operation. <br />(ii) A description of the size and location of each area to be <br />worked during each phase: (Refer to (i)) <br />(iii) Outline the sequence in which each stage of the operation <br />will be carried out: <br />As stated in (i) above the phase one southwest area will be mined <br />first and will take an estimated 10 to 12 years. Phase two mining <br />then will proceed to the proposed east and south limit boundaries. <br />It is estimated to take 8 to 10 years to complete phase two_ Phase <br />three would proceed to the north and east proposed amended limit <br />boundaries. It is estimated to take 6 to 8 years to complete phase <br />three. Reclamation will follow mining as close as possible during <br />the life of the mined area. This will not be a definitely phased <br />operation. <br />(f) A map in Exhibit C may be used along with the narrative to <br />present the following information: <br />Otero County (Operator) will cover these items in the following <br />narrative: <br />(i) Nature, depth and thickness of the deposit to be mined and <br />thickness and type of overburden: <br />• The aggregate deposit varies from approximately 12 inches to 18 <br />inches in depth.
