EXHIBIT "D"
• MINING PLAN INFORMATION
(a) Description of the methods of mining in each stage of
operation as related to surface disturbances:
Mining methods will Lie consistent throughout the life of this
operation. The area to be mined lies in the High Plains Area of
the Arkansas River Valley between Fatterson Hollow and Timpas
Creek_ The pit is located on a high terrace lying from 150 to 200
feet above the adjacent stream valleys and is generally. underlain
by gravelly alluvial materials deposited by these streams in
anr_ient times. The existing overburden of these deposits are of
such composition that it makes excellent binding material for the
County's road base material. Top soil therefore will be hauled in
from the yearly borrow Fit cleaning performed by the County. A
substantial amount of top soil has already been hauled and stock
piled on the site.
A 50 foot set back will be maintained from the overhead power line
on the south perimeter of the requested permit area.
(b) Earth Moving:
The earthmoving equipment used on the site will consist of front
end loaders, dozex•s, scrapers, blades ox' any combination thereof.
• (c) Water Diversions and Improvements:
The Hancock Fit has no water sources available and is not expected
to affect any surface or subsurface water during mining operation.
[Jo water will be used or is ne~,essary for this operation.
(d) Size of the area to be worked at any one time:
A maximum of 20 acres will be disturbed at any one time and will
consist of mining, processing and stock piling materials.
(e) An approximate time table to described the mining operation
and the relation between mining and reclamation:
The existing 112 F'erniit. for Hancock Fit was issued in 1982 fur a
total of 30 acres. This acreage included 12.3 acres that was mined
prior to permitting. In discussions with Road and Bridge personnel
it is estimated the 12.3 acre tract was mined approximately ten
years prior to permitting the area. A total of approximately
twenty five years of mining activity has occurred at this site.
The County is requesting an amendment. for E`l additional acres at
the Hancock Fit site. It is estimated the additional acreage would
fulfill the County"s needs for roai} materials for 25 to 30 years.
(i) An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for
• the various stages or phases of operation:
F'age 1
