June 24,2003 -38- 003-2203.7
• Prior to the deployment of geomembrane, Golder and Poly-Flex verified that the subgrade was free of
soft spots, protrusions, angular particles, abrupt grade changes, and loose soil. Golder and Poly-Flex
verified that the SLF, LVSCF, and BF surfaces had been proof-rolled, and that the SLF surface was
free of desiccation cracks. Where the surface of the SLF, LVSCF, or BF did not meet specifications,
Ames repaired the area and re-compacted the surface. Poly-Flex provided written certification of
geomembrane subgrade acceptance. The subgrade acceptance certificates are presented in
Appendix G.
Golder assigned each geomembrane panel a number, as follows:
• Single-sided textured 100-mil geomembrane panels deployed in the PSSA were
designated by L-79 through L-128, L-135 through L-269, L-312 through L-385,
L-396 through L-437, U-361, U-363, U-368 through U-380, and U-398 through
U-400;
• Smooth 100-mil geomembrane panels deployed in the PSSA were designated by
M-270 through M-311, M-438 through M-512, M-616 through M-654, U-01
through U-360, U-364 through U-367, U-381 through U-397, and U-401 through
U-456; and
• • Double-sided textured 100-mil geomembrane panels deployed in the PSSA were
designated by L-426 through L-435, L-513 through L-516, L-519 through L-521,
L-527 through L-530, L-545 through L-551, and U-334 through U-362 (not
including U-361).
Golder marked the panel designation and roll number directly on each panel afrer it was deployed.
The geomembrane record drawings, showing the lower geomembrane panel layout and destructive
testing and the upper geomembrane panel layout and destructive testing, are presented in Record
Drawings No. 6 and No. 7 in Appendix A.
During geomembrane deployment, Golder measured sheet thickness with a micrometer. Golder
measured sheet thickness at five random locations along one edge of each geomembrane panel. The
average thickness specified for the 100-mil geomembrane was 100 mils. Project specifications for
100-mil geomembrane required that the average of the five thickness measurements be no less than
the 100 mils, and that no individual measurement be less than nominal thickness minus 10 mils
(i.e., 90-mil). The thickness monitoring provided by Golder indicated that all of the panels met or
exceeded project requirements.
•
1:100\1361\OJ00\inlCenPSSA0bWl0pJ220.1.0000.0]N31tep.e« Golder Associates
