~J

June 24, 2003 -25-
4.1.3 Atterber Lg units
003-2203.7
Golder performed Atterberg limit testing of all fill materials. All fill materials, with the exception of
SF and SLF were non-plastic. The SLF, SF, UF, LDF, BF, LVSCF, DCF, SDCF, and FSB samples
tested met project specifications for Atterberg Limits.
The SLF Atterberg limits testing frequency (approximately one test per 3,827 cubic yards) exceeded
the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per 5,000 cubic yards. The plasticity index of the
CQA SLF samples ranged from 24 to 28, meeting the project specification of plasticity index greater
than or equal to 10. Atterberg limit test results for SLF are presented in Appendix [-1 and
summarized in Table 9.
The SF Atterberg limits testing frequency (approximately one test per 47,341 cubic yards) exceeded
the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per 50,000 cubic yards. The plasticity index of
the SF varied from NP to 15 and met project specifications. Atterberg limit test results for SF are
presented in Appendix I-1 and summarized in Table 8.
4.1.4 Proctor Compaction Tests
Golder performed standard Proctor compaction tests of SLF in order to compare in-place densities
and moisture contents with laboratory derived values of maximum dry density and optimum moisture
content. Golder performed eight CQA Standard Proctor compaction tests of SLF. The testing
frequency (approximately one test per 3,827 cubic yards) exceeded the minimum specified testing
frequency of one test per 5,000 cubic yards. The SLF compaction test results are presented in
Appendix I-2 and summarized in Table 9. CQC Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing
frequency.
Golder performed one standard Proctor compaction test of LVSCF in order to compaze in-place
densities and moisture contents beneath PSSA riser base plates for LVSCF with laboratory derived
values of maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. There is no testing frequency for
LVSCF. The LVSCF compaction test result is presented in Appendix I-2 and summarized in
Table 11. CQC Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing frequency.
z:~ao~zzm~oaoo~rmC~nessnoeosooszzoz.oaoo.ovzars~p.e« Golder Associates
