• <br />I • <br />L._J <br />June 24, 2003 <br />-8- <br />2.0 SUMMARY OF EARTHWORK CONSTRUCTION <br />Earthworks activities associated with the Phase IVb PSSA included the following: <br />003-2203.7 <br />• Underground workings remediation, including excavation, confirmatory drilling, <br />installation of CSB, FSB, CP, CR, and geogrid; <br />• Primary and Secondary Underdrain construction, including trench excavation; <br />installation of UF, SSF, geosynthetics, and sump construction; <br />• Leak Detection system construction, including trench excavation; installation of <br />pipe, LDF and geosynthetics construction; <br />• Site grading, including cuUfill and blasting; <br />• PSSA subgrade preparation; <br />• SLF installation, placement and compaction, depth verification testing, and <br />preparation of SLF surface for geomembrane deployment; <br />• BF installation, placement and compaction, depth verification testing, and <br />preparation of BF surface for geomembrane deployment; <br />• PSSA double liner system installation, consisting of two layers of geomembrane <br />separated by LVSCF; <br />• LVSCF placement between geomembrane layers and placement of Low Volume <br />Solution Collection pipes; <br />• Placement of the Low Volume Solution Collection risers; <br />• SDCF placement in the PSSA around the vertical risers; <br />• DCF placement above the upper geomembrane layer; and <br />• Placement of High Volume Solution Collection pipes and riser plates. <br />Ames generally used the following equipment during construction: <br />• Caterpillar D6M Low Ground Pressure (LGP) Dozer; <br />• Caterpillar D7H Dozer; <br />• Caterpillar D9R LGP Dozer; <br />• Caterpillar D8R LGP Dozer; <br />• Caterpillar D9R Dozer; <br />I:\OOUSO110d00V'nICmP55A06W\0032203.Oi00.Ol3ARep.doc Golder Associates <br />
