Mr. Kent Gorham
November 16, 1994
Page 20
Additional flow and field parametex ~~~~*+}~ from station SW06 were collected
as follows on 4/28 and 5/2 1993. ~]1R 1nfOR'matlOn was inadvertently sniffed frC4n
the AHR. Flow = 22.64 cfs on 4/28. Flora = 3.44 cfs on 5/2; pH = 7.6, DC = 190,
C° = 7. SW06 was docinnented to be dry during August aryl September and SW06 is an
ephemeral source which historically flows only s~:,s.^,^=lly in response to snowmelt
rvmff. ZYrough m specific doca~entation of the lack of flow was noted in the
1993 hydrology field notes, m flow occurred in October as evidenced by the lack
of flows doc~m~ented by the upstream locations UERC aryl IkRC.
UII2C:
'ihe September visit to this site was inadvertently overlooked haaever all other
ranii red visits were ocnq~leted during the rams; nim eleven (11) IIlorlths of the
year. Docamiented flows in August aryl October at this location were rested as <0.1
cfs and dry respectively. R411C station was subsequently permanently susperded
frcun the monitoring network and m omissions oocisred as cxxN~ared to the current
monitoring requirements.
I~I2C:
Zhe September visit to this site was inadvertently overlooked however all other
raniired visits were oca~leted during the remaining eleven (11) months of the
year. Documented flows in August and October at this location were noted as <0.1
cfs aryl dry respectively. 'This station was subsequently pera~nently suspended
frown the monitoring network and m ~1 CCions OOCl1rZ'ed aS dared t0 the current
monitoring requirements.
SW05:
An additional water quality sartq~le could have been collected fr~n station SW05
during the April thrax~l July period for which flow was documented in 1993 but
was omitted.
SWO1 and SW02:
Stations SWO1 and SN702 were mt mOnitared more intensively due to their proximity
to the miniTm operation. ~rese stations monitor waters flowing outside of and
upstre~n from the permit area in watersheds wholly unaffected by mining.
Sufficient hydrology database information consisting of flow, water level, field
parameter, and water quality information had been established prior to 1993 to
define the pre-mining hydrology at these locations. Using 1993, m new mining
activities with the potential of creating detectable impacts occurred in the
vicinity of these stations.
Currently these stations are riot required to be monitored further. 'This stations
have been permanently suspended from the monitoring network. As congaared to
current ra~niiramama, m monitoring Omissions oaasred dtis]rg 1993; two
additional flow aryl field parameter visits occam~ed in 1993.
