Mr. Kent Gorhmn
Novenber 16, 1994
Page 15
Spring & Pond 13-5 overlies an area mined dicing the last half of 1991 (Panel A)
and middle of 1992 (Panel B). A sufficient hydrology database consisting of
flow, water level, field parameter, aryl water quality information had been
established prior t0 1993 to define the pre-minim hydrology at this location.
During 1993, no new mining activities with the potential of creating detectable
impacts ooc~sred in the vicinity of Spring & Pond 13-5.
Currently this spring is required to be monitored quarterly for flows and field
parameters; annually for water quality. As ~argl to current x-egi,;*p~++~~ts, no
monitoring anissions ooanrred during 1993; two additional water level and field
parameter visits oocxnz'ed in 1993. 'ihe water quality sample collected from this
site was obtained in the fall whereas spring sampling will be emphasized in the
future. Sprite sampling will be emphasized because rnaneYws sites in the within
the permit area only flow in the spring and typically dry up by fall.
Spring aryl Porn 13-6:
Spring & Pond 13-6 overlies an area mined duriryg the end of 1992 (Panel B). A
sufficient hydrology database oonsisting of flow, water level, field parameter,
and water quality info~xmation had been established prior to 1993 to define the
pre-minims hydrology at this locatiov~. Ihsirg 1993, no new mining activities
with the potential of creating detectable i~acts oaasred in the vicinity of
Spring & Pond 13-5.
Currently this spring is required to be monitored quarterly for flaws and field
parameters; annually for water quality. As cared to curnnt requirements, no
monitoring omissions occurred during 1993; two additional water level and field
parameter visits oocan2'ed in 1993. 'Ihe water quality sample oollecked fran this
site was obtained in the fall whereas spring sampli~ will be emphasized in the
future. Spring sampling will be emphasized because numerous sites in the within
the permit area only flow in the spring aryl typically dry up by fall.
Spring 24-1:
Spring 24-1 overlies an area of the Fast mine last active in 1983. 'iY~is spring
consists of a wet spot in a roadcut. ZY~e flow magnitudes recorded in the
database for this feature are n~ ~a~~hle in all instances. A sufficient
hydrology database consisting of flow, field lr3ra~+ar, and water quality
information had been established far this location prior to 1993 to define the
hydrology at this site. During 1993, no new mining activities with the potential
of creating detectable iagaacts occurred in the vicinity of this site.
Currently this spring is rat required to be monitored further. 'Ibis spring has
been pennaz~sttly suspended fin the monitoring network. As oo~ared to current
requirelnP.nts, no monitoring omissions occurred during 1993; five additional flow
aryl field parameter visits ooclsred in 1993.
Spring 25:
