Mr. rent Gorham
November 16, 1994
Page 14
Spring 1-5:
Spring 1-5 lies outside the area of any potential mining impacts. Advance mining
in the Closest prrnrim;ty to this site took place in 1983 a-~rm~mrim~tely 5000 feet
distant fTOm the site. A sufficient hydrology database OOn57~lTM of flora, field
parameter, and water quality information had been established for this location
prior t0 1993 to define the rne-m;*+~YJ h}+drology at this site. Durirq 1993, no
new mining activities with the potential of creating detectable impacts occurred
in the vicinity of this site.
Qnz ently this spring is required to be monitored quarterly for flows and field
parameters; annually for water quality. his monitaring is required only as a
result of this feature's starling as an adjudicated water right within the permit
area. No mine related impacts can reasonably be expected to occin at this site
order the currently approved mine plan. As compared to usrent requirements,
five monitoring omissions oaasred during 1993; four flow and field parameter
visits were not acoca~q~lished in 1993 and the required annual water quality sample
was canitted. ZYrese ®ni ~~ions are tempered by this site's remote location with
respect to any minims activity arl the Fu2senoe of the established database.
Spring & Pond 7-4:
Spring & Purl 7-4 overlies an area of the Fast Mine inactive since advance mining
oa~urred in 1983. A sufficient hydrology database consisting of flow, field
parameter, and water quality information had been established prior to 1993 to
define the hydrology at this location. During 1993, no new minirg activities
with the potential of creating detectable impacts oocurrerl in the vicinity of
Spring & Pond 7-4.
CSu rently this sing is not required to be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiating development of the F~St Mine. As compared to current
requirements, no monitoring omissions ocarrred during 1993.
Spring & Ford 7-5:
Spring & Pond 7-5 overlies an area of the Fast Mine inactive since advance mining
occurred in 1983. A sufficient hydrology database consisting of flow, water
level, field parameter, aryl water quality information had been established prior
t0 1993 to define the hydrology at this location. During 1993, no new minim
activities with the potential of creating detectable impacts occurred in the
vicinity of Spring & Porn 7-5.
GUrrently this spring is not required ro be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiating develo~ent of the Fast Mine. As ocatq~ared to current
requirements, no monitoring ®issions occurred during 1993; three additional
water level, flow, and field nor,-amotor visits oocZUred in 1993.
Spring aryl Fond 13-5:
