lyh~. xent Gorham
November 16, 1994
Page 12
Zhree water quality samples in total were collected from this site during the
year. It is not uncamnon for three of fain required samples to be collected due
to accessibility constraints and OOVCC feels this particular omission is tempered
by these facts.
Spring & Pond 19:
Spring & Ford 19 lies rrarth of an area of the East Mine inactive since 1984 aryl
artside and upstream of the projected subsidence zone. Wring 1993, no new
mining activities with the potential of creating detectable impacts occurred in
the vicinity of Spring & Pond 19. A sufficient hydrology database consisting of
flaw, field ~r:anwtcr, aryl water quality information had been established prior
to 1993 to define the pre-minim hydrology at this location.
Currently this spring is not required to be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiating development of the East Mine. As compared to current
requirements, no monitoring jSCions OOCUY'L'ed durlrg 1993; three additional
water level, flow, and field parameter visits occurred in 1993.
Spring & Pond 23:
Spring S Pond 23 overlies an area of the East Mine inactive since 1984. A
sufficient hydrology database consisting of flow, field parameter, and water
quality information had been established priar to 1993 to define the pre-mining
hydrology at this location. Dicing 1993, no new mining activities with the
potential of creating detectable impacts occurred in the vicinity of Spring &
Pond 23.
Currently this spring is not required to be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiating development of the Fast Mine. As cwgaared to current
r~ ' ements, no monitoring anissio~ns occurred during 1993; three additional
water level, flow, and field parameter visits occurred in 1993.
Spring & Pond 24:
Spring & Ford 24 lies downstream of an area of the East Mine inactive since 1984
and outside the potential subsidence area. A sufficient hydrology database
consisting of flow, field parameter, and water quality information had been
established priar to 1993 to define the hydrology at this location. Wring 1993,
no new mining activities with the potential of creating detectable impacts
occurred in the vicinity of Spring & Pard 24.
Cittrently this spring is not required to be monitored further until one year
prior to reinitiating development of the East Mine. As o~pared to cun.~ent
r~ ' ements, no monitoring omlSSions oowrred during 1993; five additional water
level, flow, and field parameter visits oocvzred in 1993.
