• 4. Anew map, Facilities Plan Map C-2, is included to show the berms that are
planned to divert stormwater from the upland area north and east of the surface
facilities away from the toe of the waste rock dump, haul road, and ore stockpiles.
These berms will be constructed to sufficient size and shape to handle a 10-yeaz
24-hour precipitation event (see Appendix A). This stormwater will enter the
existing drainage ditch on the northeast side of the county road near where it does
currently. The road is built-up enough to prevent stormwater from running across
it, onto the Pad area. The berms will be maintained during mining and rebuilt, as
needed, after reclamation is completed.
The beans, previously mentioned for hazazdous material spill containment, will
also contain the stormwater that falls directly on the storage portion of the Pad
area. Furthermore, the safety berms required to be in place at the top of the old
waste rock dump, at the elevation of the portal, will contain the stormwater that
falls directly on the old dump top (portal bench) and the ramp portion of the haul
road.
Stormwater falling directly on the waste rock dump and ore stockpile area will
partly soak in. That which runs off (see Appendix B) will be retained in low azeas
that will be constructed and maintained at both the northwest corner and south
end of the dump/stockpile azea, shown on map, Facilities Plan Map C-2, as
catchments.
i 1
U
