Mr. Mark Heffner
May 31, 2002
Page 3
Priiatel Well- Permit Number 90000
The Prijatel well is located as shown in Figure 1, west of the Phase 1 mining azea. The well is no
longer used based on an interview with Mr. George Mraovich, the current well and land owner.
Nelson Well -Permit Numbers 14393R and 686RN
The Nelson property is located north of the Phase 1 mining area. Two wells exist at the property,
but the land owner switched over to City water when it became available, and neither of the wells
are used.
Martin1Luczakl Well -Permit Number 6609R
The Martin well is located west of the Phase 1 mining area. The well is used for in-house uses but
not for drinking.
Tilley Well -Permit Number 106501A
The Tilley well is located north and east of the Phase 1 mining area. The well is used for in-house
uses and lawn irrigation, but not for drinking.
Our analysis of impacts to nearby wells focused on the Martin and Tilley wells, since these are the
two wells within 600 feet of the permit boundary which have potential to be used during and after
mining in Phase 1 is started. The Helmsing well also has potential to be used during the initial
phases of mining, but an alternative water supply will ultimately be provided to the Helmsings.
Monitoring Program
A ground water quantity and quality monitoring program has been implemented to monitor
conditions in the aquifer and identify impacts of mining. The monitoring program consists of 16
wells constructed in the alluvial aquifer and monthly water level measurements. In addition, a water
quality sampling component will also be added to the monitoring program. The monitoring wells
are located such that the data collected from the wells is representative of conditions in nearby
production wells. Accordingly, the monitoring program wells will provide an early indication if
water level impacts occur, and will allow Transit Mix of Pueblo to mitigate water level issues before
the actual performance of neazby wells is impacted.
Btshop-Brogden Associates, /nc.
