tir
The proposed new access is shown and labeled on Exhibit C-II. A driveway permit
application for this access has been submitted to CDOT and is currently under review.
The existing N/S roadway along the buried irrigation line will serve as the mine haul road
for the life of the mine. Improvements to the two existing arroyo crossings will be made,
if necessary, when progression of mining dictates. Should improvements require the
installation of culverts or other structwes, detail of these structures will be provided to
your office. Existing dry crossings aze adequate for the foreseeable future.
Exhibit D -Mining Plan
The maximum highwall slope ratio of 3:1 during mining is applicable to mining
perimeters where adjacent structures exist and where the perimeter abuts canyon rims.
Otherwise, mining of highwalls along perimeters where no structures or canyon rims ate
adjacent may be vertical (see attached Eabibit C-II).
It is hereby acknowledged that the 20-acre maximum disturbance area discussed in
Exhibit D includes all activities and disturbances associated with the proposed and
existing mining operation. No change to this acreage is necessary at this time.
It is the intent of the applicant that a stratum of un-mined material will be left overlying
the sandstone bedrock during mining.
The setback of mining activity where structures not owned by the applicant aze located
(power poles, buried gaslines, gas well pads, and CDOT right of way fences) is discussed
in the geotechnical report submitted to you on December 13, 2005. The setback from
canyon rims is twenty feet. The post-mining slope gradient for the power poles will be
3:1.
It is correct that topsoil and overburden will be removed and stockpiled separately in
adjacent berms along the perimeter of mining azeas. The topsoil stockpiles (berms) will
be revegetated with a dryland seed mix as follows:
Hycrest Crested Wheatgrass 15%
Smooth Brome 25%
Pubescent Wheatgrass 25%
Orchazdgrass (Paiute) 20%
Russian Wildrye 10%
Annual Rye 5%
The recommended rate of seeding for the above is 12-151bs./acre utilizing a
broadcast placement method.
A revised noxious weed control plan is attached.
