COOLEY RESERVOIIi AND FULTON WILDLIFE AREA PIT
AMENDMENT NO. 1 - JERONIMUS PROPERTY
EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN (Continued)
The property was previously mined for sand and gravel resources by others. The property's present
configuration is two lakes and wetlands encompassing 28+ acres on the west, north, and south sides
of the property, and 20+ acres of non-lake area vegetated with non-irrigated grasses along the east
side. Most of the lake area is within 100 year floodplain of the S.Platte River, but the non-imgated
grass vegetation area is out of the floodplain. None of the floodplain area is considered part of the
floodway of the S. Platte River floodplain.
The addition of this property was primarily to obtain an area to dispose of the wash plant's discharge
water, as there are less than 500,000 tons to a depth of 30±' of available sand and gravel resources
on the property since it was mined previously. Mining will be one phase, and should be completed
within 2 years. The existing 4+_ acres of extensive wetlands azea along southern boundary of the south
lake area shall be preserved. Reclamation shall include creation of additional wetlands area by filling
of lake area with silt from the wash plant water within the 100 year floodplain of the S. Platte River.
No filling or backfilling of the existing lake areas will be more than 3' to 5' above the existing water
elevation, in order to ensure the establishment of wetlands and to not adversely affect the floodplain.
Mining of the two lakes areas will be undertaken with a dragline and/or large backhoe to recover any
remaining resources below the water level. The lakes may be partially de-watered, and along with
areas already above the existing water level, scrapers, dozers, backhoes, and similar equipment will
be utilized for mining above the water table. Mining will also include the below elements, not
necessarily in the order listed, with some of these activities will occur concurrently:
Repair existing fencing and new fencing installation. Any new fencing will be accordance
with Adams County regulations, and where applicable, permits for any new fencing shall be
obtained.
2. Installation of temporary fencing around existing wetland vegetation area to be preserved.
Prior to earthmoving activities eradication of all noxious plants, and continue to follow the
"Noxious Weed Control Plan" in the original permit and copied as page 5 in this exhibit.
Installation of a conveyor and wash pipe crossing of the Fulton Ditch for conveyance of
excavated material to and the piping back of wash plant waste water from the existing Plant
Site.
Installation of temporary conveyors and temporary internal roadways as needed.
