A large patch of whitetop occurs just downstream from the Center
Ridge Pond.
In these specific locations and all over the site, the operator
should perform weed control measures in accordance with the
reclamation plan.
Unsuccessful seeding: The following areas have very little
vegetation and measures should be taken to reseed and establish
vegetation according to the reclamation plan: areas of West Ridge,
reclaimed explosives area, road narrowing areas.
Successful Revegetation: Vetch and alfalfa are flourishing in
places along the top of West Ridge, but there is not much grass.
Vegetation is coming back on the slope above Spoils Springs 16/17 in
the Moffat Area reclamation. Fanweed predominates and there is an
abundance of woody shrubs on the lower slopes of older reclamation -
sage, wood rose, snowberry.
Vegetation coming in well along the Goat Trail - the top stretch
of the conveyer corridor reclamation.
Vegetation is beginning to appear on the old boneyard near the mine
office.
Former explosives storage area and facilities area pond site:
Contour furrows have been effective for the most part in preventing
erosion; some grass is emerging, especially in the bottoms of the
furrows. More vegetation on the facilities pond area than the
explosives storage area, which is largely barren.
Slides & Damagg
Goat Trail/Conveyer Corridor: A rotational slide has formed on the
outface of the top section of the conveyer corridor reclamation.
The scarp is 200' long, 40" at maximum offset.. The slide appears to
toe out along a bench about 30' downslope from the scarp.,
Goat Trail/Conveyer Reclamation: At the intersection of the
conveyer corridor reclamation strip and the Goat Trail (3rd
switchback from top), a small slide - or mudflow - from the
reclaimed area has encroached on the uphill side of the road.
Goat Trail/Conveyer corridor: The slide at the site of B-C Transfer
on the Conveyer Corridor is still moving. DMG noted that is very
wet. On 6-5-96 the operator was directed to develop a plan for
