Information, showing that property owners in the area above <br />underground workings, had received at least 6 months notice of <br />the activities occurring was not found at the mine. Since this <br />was a violation of Rule 9.20.2, MLRD issued Notice of Violation <br />number C-91-036. <br />FIELD REVIEW <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS <br />Mine identification: The mine identification sign was in place at <br />the mine entrance and was legible with correct information. <br />Another sign was located off of county road 15 at Newlin creek. <br />Perimeter markers: Perimeter markers consisted of orange t-post <br />which were placed around the perimeter of the disturbed area. It <br />was noticed that the embankments of pond 5, loadout ponds 1 and 2 <br />and the emergency spillway of pond 1 at the mine were outside of <br />the designated permit boundary. As a result MLRD issued Notice <br />of Violation number C-91-37 for a violation of Rules 4.01.1(8) <br />and 3.02.112). <br />Blasting warning: Blasting warning signs were not required since <br />explosives are not used above ground. The explosives storage <br />bunker was signed. <br />Topsoil markers: Identifying signs were found on all topsoil <br />piles. <br />Stream course buffer: No protected stream courses exist at the <br />mine. <br />HYDROLOGIC SYSTEM <br />Drainage control: The drainage control at the mine has not been <br />maintained and some of the ditches shown on the drawings did not <br />exist. Culverts were found to be partially or entirely plugged <br />and some culverts had been installed without design and were not <br />shown on drawings. At the loadout an attempt was being made to <br />open ditches during the inspection and ditches existed which were <br />
