continue to save and segregate all soils encountered in disturbed areas. A discussion of
location of stockpiles is included in the subsection of Exhibit D entitled "Mining Plan."
When it is determined that a stockpile of topsoil will remain in place and
undisturbed for more than a year, the stockpile will be planted with the following seed
mixture:
Species Lbs/Acre (broadcast)
Crested Wheatgrass, Fairway
Intermediate Wheatgrass
Yellow Sweetclover
Total Lbs per acre 13
The mixture will be broadcast between March 15 and April I5, when weather
conditions permit. Fertilizing and mulching is considered unnecessazy.
Minin¢ Plan. Reference is made to Exhibit D-1.
The mining operation will continue year-round on a demand basis. When clay or
sand is required by the brick plants, the material will be removed from stockpiles at the
mine. As the stockpiles are reduced, new stockpiles will be created with mined materials.
On-site equipment may include, but is not limited to, dozers, scrapers, backhoes, front-
end loaders, dump trucks and a water truck.
Mining will be conducted in seven stages. Because of the need to mine clays
simultaneously from the north and south ends of the affected land, several mining stages
will be affected at the same time.
Generally, the west one-half of the property will be mined from the south to the
north starting in Stage 4, progressing through Stages 5 and 2 and finishing in Stages 2 &
6. The east one-half of the property will be mined from the north to the south, starting in
Stages 2 & 6, progressing through Stage 5 and finishing in Stage 4. Stages 1 & 3 have
been mined.
10 Revised: Dec. 2003
